Every year we meet companies that paid more tax than they had to. Not because they did anything wrong, but because nobody asked the right questions.
1. The research credit
If your team builds software, improves a product or develops a new process, part of that payroll may qualify. Startups can often use it against payroll tax.
2. Work opportunity credit
Hiring from certain groups, including veterans, can earn a credit per employee. The paperwork has to be filed within 28 days of the start date.
3 to 5. Energy, employer-provided childcare and state credits
These depend on where you operate and what you invest in. A one-hour review is usually enough to know if they are worth chasing.
