A profit and loss statement tells you what happened. A 13-week cash forecast tells you what is about to happen, which is far more useful on a Monday morning.
The top half: cash in
Expected customer payments by week, based on real invoices and real payment habits, not hope.
The bottom half: cash out
Payroll, rent, suppliers, loan payments and taxes, placed in the week they will actually leave the bank.
The line that matters
Ending cash for each week. If it dips below your safety level, you have weeks to act instead of days.
